Multi-Select transactions for categorization

Post by rrspyder »

Is there a simple way to multi-select transactions to bulk categorize them?

In development's version is possible  to select several transactions.
This feature will be in future.

So can this be done?  I am new to MMEX and I can't seem to do it.

The only way I can see to do it at the moment is to export the already-loaded  transactions you wish to edit to a  file in csv format;
                                        load to Excel;
                                       order the Payees alphabetically so that all similar transactions are grouped together;
                                       add a new category column into which the same category can be assigned over the appropriate range of rows;
                                       re-export as .csv and re-load to MMEX.

You must remember to delete all the un-edited transactions from MMEX before you reload, or else you will have double entries; one categorised, the other not!

 I think Nikolay is suggesting that a neater way of bulk re-assigning categories to already loaded transactions is under development.

I tried to download the development version 1.4.0 alpha but the links are wrong: for the Mac, only the normal version can be downloaded, for the PC the link is wired to 1.3.0 alpha of 2016.
