Hi, if you use Dropbox sync, the database you find in /sdcard/MoneyManagerEx/dropbox/. If not use Dropbox sync the file is stored on private folder of application (like all android apps). You can backup this files using apps such as Titanium Backup or others.
Otherwise, i suggest you create a dropbox account, link the application and upload your current database before you do factory reset
I avaible for any other questions

There should be another option for backing up the database. A lot of people don't like/want dropbox, so there should be a choice what to use for storage (spideroak, tresorit, google drive etc.). Also should bean option to attach the at an e-mail.

I tried Dr Fone Android Recovery not so long ago for my phone. It helps me to find deleted photos twice! So I hope it works for HDD too.

I think all your methods are just good. But, look at this, you'll be impressed. It takes three steps and nearly all
kinds of files on your Android phone can be done. No pain at all. Try this.
You'll thank me when you make it to back up the Android Data.

Re: Factory reset - backup? Data File Location?
Just a quick update. The latest beta now includes support for 4 major cloud storage providers, thanks to CloudRail:
- Dropbox
- Google Drive
- OneDrive
- Box
This should be enough to provide backup, history, and protection of your data. Any other solution is also valid, as the database is just a file.
Any contributions in functionality of the backup and export are welcome.

Titanium Backup app needs your phone being rooted. I am using Androidphonesoft Data Recovery, which has a convenient backup and restore option.

Re: Factory reset - backup? Data File Location?
The database file is by default on an Internal Storage in MoneyManagerEx directory.
Any backup tool can be used to simply copy the file to a backup location.
My recommendation would be, if possible, to use a service like Dropbox that also keeps a history of file changes and, besides being a sync point, can also serve as a backup location. I'm not really using sync but mostly keeping the Dropbox synchronization exactly for this purpose.

If you don't have backup, the third party recovery tool is the only solution to get back lost data from your Android. Among lots of tools, MobiKin Doctor will be a good choice.

Re: Factory reset - backup? Data File Location?
Yes, it is wise to back up Android data before factory reset. Of course, using the Android data backup tool is definitely not your only choice. MTP and Google are also doing a good job of backing up.
