Quicken on sale

Post by MisterY »

No, this does not mean that the new version of the software is on sale for this year. Unless you have heard these days, Intuit is planning to sell Quicken unit.
Here are a few articles on the topic:

It will be interesting to watch what happens in the next couple of months. There are several options, but let's just take the two main ones - that it can be either better or worse for Quicken and the opposite for everyone else.
In case Quicken gets abandoned and dies a slow death, this will probably include a decent influx of people who will dig Money Manager Ex and start using it.

I would also hope to make a complete switch at some point but the level of Investment features is so low in MMEX making this next to impossible at this stage.
Ideally, a web-based solution would be great, together with an offline support. But, of course, everyone in the software development has the same requirements nowadays.
Transition among generations of users and technologies, transfer from desktop to the cloud, is catching up with vigor.
