Problem entering the amount

Help. Sometimes when I am loading a new entry to an account, the figure I type in the Amount box reverts to £1 when I okay the entry. It doesn't happen every time and can happen with a deposit or a withdrawal. I can get around it by asking it to do a sum, but with split transactions, this is impossible. I am ready to throw out this software in frustration. I have only had it for one month- is there an update to fix it?
