Re: Can't Open Database
So that worked, who knows why but everything is working again. I hope others might see that advice and benefit from it.
Many thanks Renato

Many thanks for the feedback.
Yes, as I have often written, the configuration file mmexini.db3 is often damaged by this problem.

Re: Can't Open Database

Re: Can't Open Database
Hi All,
MMEX doesnt want to open fully, after my computer did a compulsory update this morning.
I am running Windows 10 Home, Windows Build 19041.450
The Money Manager App opens, but then is a blank white screen.
Any idea of what I need to do to get it back up and running.
Hate the windows updates!
Please help! Desperate! Love your app!!!

Re: Can't Open Database
@bransonbe In your screenshot it looks like the window might just be off screen. You might try the suggestions in this article: https://www.howtogeek.com/howto/windows ... ard-trick/
This can happen if you switch between multiple monitors and one monitor (e.g. undocking/unplugging a laptop computer).

Re: Can't Open Database
As a new member of this forum but not a new user of MM I hope I will be forgiven (a) if this has been mentioned before or (b) if this question is in the wrong place or (unlikely) out of order. I have noticed by looking through recent threads and posts that a fair number of people have been having difficulties in accessing their files for a variety of reasons with a number of people, including myself, being unable to 'get in' as the program reports that the db is already open. This isn't the first time I have experienced this. The most recent solution suggested by Renato worked for me and others to whom it was suggested. This solution was to delete C:\Users\YOUR-USERNAME\AppData\Roaming\MoneyManagerEx\mmexini.db3. I renamed the file initially rather than deleting it but sure enough it did the trick and a new .db3 was created next time I exited the program.
I presumed therefore that my .db3 file had become corrupted. If that is the case and this is happening to others too is this a problem that the Developers would look at as it must put a lot of people off MM unnecessarily. Personally, even with this occurring to me more than once over the years, I rate MM highly and would hate to see people put off using it due to what I would call a 'bug'.
Is it worth someone looking at this issue to see if an answer can be found to prevent it?

Re: Can't Open Database
I am also of the opinion that a correction is due here.
But it is just that the programming capacity depends on the availability of volunteer programmers.
Most of the time it is very difficult to find the error, especially if you have no further information how the error was created.
May I ask you to send me the broken and the working .db3 file via PM. (there is no confidential data in it, only settings)

Re: Can't Open Database
Thank you, Renato, for the "defective" mmexini.db3 file. Using this, I am sure I can fix this problem.

Re: Can't Open Database
I have the same problem. I cannot open my database on my laptop (windows 8.1). This started after upgrading to version 1.3.5 . But when I take the same database on a USB to my office desktop (windows 7), on which I have installed money manager same version 1.3.5; it opens with no problem. I am able to make changes and save them. When I bring the new database back to my laptop, it does not open. I get a message saying that the database is already opened with an other session of money manager. Strange!!!

Re: Can't Open Database
probably the solution is a bit further down:
This solution was to delete C:\Users\YOUR-USERNAME\AppData\Roaming\MoneyManagerEx\mmexini.db3

Re: Can't Open Database
I too now cannot open any database in 1.3.5 just like detailed in the thread. I have tried to find the pathway listed by Renato but cannot. If anyone can help me get it to open again I will be grateful otherwise I shall have to look for another program that will work. I too have no other program that I have tried to open the files with so why it keeps saying it is open in another program beats me.
Cheers Edward

Re: Can't Open Database
How about pass your database file to MMEX developer to have a deeper look? also it would be appreciated to have some snapshots to illustrate your issues

Re: Can't Open Database
Hi all, I have had a problem similar to Strongbow. Sometimes I got a page of a reoccurring transaction even though the data base would not open. I restarted my computer but when the screen went blank the computer hung and would not finish the restart. I had to power off the computer and power it on again to complete the restart. As suggested I down loaded the trial version of REVO Uninstaller Pro and uninstalled the Money Manager EX file, deleted all the files that it said needed deleting and did the suggested restart. All is now well and everything works, fingers crossed.

After the mmex started the ico should be in the tray.
Press and hold the shift button and right mouse click.
Choose Maximize in the context menu.

Re: Can't Open Database
Further to my post on Dec 07. Had the same problem again. I am convinced that it happened when I did a manual restart to complete a windows 10 update. Before the restart I closed all open programmes except for MMEX which I forgot to close. After the restart completed the original problem reoccurred. Each time I tried to open a database nothing happened except for the first time that I tried when I got the message saying another instant of MMEX was open, when actually it was not. Again I used Revo uninstaller pro to uninstall and then reinstalled MMEX. All is working ok now.
Perhaps it is time for the developers to take a closer look at this problem.
