Stocks accounts have no history?

Post by jeffjl »

Version 1.2.0-Beta

I have started working on the QIF import so it will import stock transactions into a Stocks account. Either I'm missing something, or there are some significant differences between Quicken and MMEX with Stocks accounts that I only just realized.

I don't see a way to sell a stock once it's in the account.  Was the intent to just delete the record if you sell the stock? And you lose the history of the transaction?

Looking at the database, there is not a field for the "Action" taken for a stock transaction (the term used by Quicken and others for Buy or Sell etc.). An Action field would allow keeping a history and determining which stocks you still owned.

I also don't see a way to hold the cash from a stock sale (or a dividend received) in the Stocks account.

It looks like the database would need to be reworked a bit to include these features.

Was this something that MMEX was envisioned to support someday and we haven't gotten there yet?  Or am I asking too much?
