Last time I upgraded to 1.6.4, the upgrade created all these unwanted bak files in the directory where I keep my Mmex data. And it still seems to do this every time I save the emb or mmb data file.

I’ve deleted most of these bak files, because they are hogging my hard drive space, and I always make backups of my data on external drives anyway. Is there any way to stop the program from doing this if I upgrade again? Thanks for any assistance.
I'm afraid to upgrade MMEX because...

The files listed here are created when changes are made to the database structure. they serve as security in the event of any problems. As you have changed from a very old MMEX version to the latest version, there are several such files.
You can adjust the number of backup files yourself in the settings.

Thanks, Renato. Do you mean the setting "Database Options" "Create a new backup when MMEX start" (unchecked)Renato wrote: Sun Jul 13, 2025 1:18 pm The files listed here are created when changes are made to the database structure. they serve as security in the event of any problems. "Backup database on exit (unchecked)
"Max Files"
How should I set these options so I can upgrade MMEX without this problem? I don't want MMEX to make any backups on my HD because I backup the database on external drives as soon as I make any changes.

As I wrote, backup copies are created for security reasons when changes are made to the database schema (Upgrade?.
If you delete these backups and then have problems, it will be difficult for us to help.
As you have noticed, you can disable the other backups in the settings.
