Edit Payee - Match Patterns on Import

Post by alnetloc »

I often edit Regex patterns on importing Payee and category data. This greatly helps with import automation - great feature! However, there are times I want to go directly to a Payee and edit a pattern for a given Payee - but, on this I run into a problem: I can edit the pattern just fine, then click OK to save it. But, when I reopen the edited Payee the changes are not saved. What's going on? I see that edits done during import are saved, but not when I go to Payee edit. Please help!

By the way, as a feature request: If "Regex Patterns" (as it is labeled in import screen) is the same as the "Pattern Match" (as it is labeled in the Payee edit screen) then it should be labeled the same. For the non-techies Regex does not communicate as well. Thanks

Ok, after some experimentation I've figured out a solution: If you simply open/edit a Payee, type Match Pattern, then click OK, the edit does not get saved. You have to hit RETURN key (at least on my computer configuration) - this saves edit and puts cursor on next, blank Pattern cell. This is not immediately obvious - at least to me. Suggested feature.

You write: (at least on my computer configuration)

Oh, and it would always be very helpful if, when reporting such issues, you could specify what the error relates to; the operating system and the MMEX version are important.

In many cases, errors have already been fixed in the latest developer version; you can check this at https://moneymanagerex.org/docs/downloads/development/.
