When creating or editing a transaction in Accounts View, adding a Note may create a number of lines. If the number of lines exceeds the visible height of the field, a scroll bar appears to the right - so that is good.
After “OK-ing”, the associated note can be seen in the Notes Panel under the transactions in Account View. If the notes for a particular transaction is long, then the upper edge of the panel can be dragged up to reveal the lower missing part of the note.
However, recently I noticed that some transactions have notes that are ‘so long’ that even dragging up the upper edge of the Notes Panel fails to show the full extent of the field.
Other Users may have occasionally noticed this.
PROPOSAL
—————-
That an up/down scroll bar be provided along the (right-hand?)edge of the Notes Panel.
That the scroll-bar appears as required if the lines of notes so dictates at any given Notes Panel height.
Hopefully, the user experience would be enhanced, enabling flexibility over the most appropriate Notes Panel height, view of the transactions list and need to scroll up and down ‘those’ longer notes. And even for the many shorter notes!
Regards

Re: Accounts View: Notes Panel;
Just trying to understand the use case:
Where have these very long notes come from?
Have you been typing them in or are they part of the data you are trying to import from Money 2004?
Why are the notes on the transaction so long?
Might they be better written in a document that is added to the transaction as a file Attachment?
Re: Accounts View: Notes Panel;
MartinArmstrong,
Thank you for your enquiry.
1:
Long notes are largely self generated. Details of a complex purchase, for example for a project or items for an event. Eventual off-loading to an attachment - housekeeping saved for a ‘rainy day’!
2:
I have been using Attachments for some time. They are particularly useful for tying such as quotes and receipts to a payment.
3:
As yet, I have not tried importing data from any package. However, I am thinking of experimenting with exporting from the SVT/Accounts2 app. Another ‘rainy day’?
As my final comment suggested, the “many shorter notes” would also benefit from such a scroll-bar. If nothing else, increasing flexibility to the usability of the Accounts View - once provided I am certain it be well used.
Hope this helps.
