Currency not available? (BTC/CHF)

Post by fjcmurphy »

Hi!

My base currency is CHF (Swiss Franc) and I would like to add BTC (Bitcoin) as a new currency. When I do that the conversion rates that are pulled from the web (Yahoo Finance?) is BTC/USD, i.e. versus the USD.

Is there a way to teach MMEX to have BTC/CHF or ETH/CHF?
Can one specify somehow a different web-site where the quotes are pulled?

Thank you!

Regards,
Frank

Looks like I'm experiencing something similar.

Actually, up to April all was fine, but then the price of a BTC was suddenly about 1/10th of what it was:
exchange rates BTC
exchange rates BTC

Did I misconfigure something, or did something external change around that date?

I don't see this step change.

What is your Base Currency?

Did you change your Base Currency at any point?

You didn't experience the step change, or you don't see it in my screenshot? :?:

My base currency is NOK, which has been for years.

I meant:

I see it in your screenshot but have not been able to find a way to reproduce a similar step change.

@Evert
As in many cases, I miss the details:
a) with which operating system
b) with which MMEX version
c) as exact as possible description of the error

Here it would have been surely correct to open a new contribution, because in the subject it says: Currency not available? (BTC/CHF)
Thus it was not to be assumed that the base currency is NOK.

By the way: This is a forum where users of MMEX try to help other users on a voluntary basis in the use of the free software and not a forum of a company that sells software.

Yes I'm experiencing the same.

MMEX downloads BTC/USD rates instead of BTC/MyHomeCurrency.

MMEX 1.7.0 Linux Flatpak.

MMEX downloads BTC/USD rates instead of BTC/MyHomeCurrency.
This is not true in general, MMEX does a two-hop conversion through USD for every base currency outside of a limited set. The issue is that set was defined as

Code: Select all

'USD|EUR|GBP|CHF'
so the second hop was being bypassed for the Swiss Franc even though Yahoo Finance doesn't have 'CHF' rates for cryptocurrency.

I have fixed this for version 1.7.1 (https://github.com/moneymanagerex/money ... ssues/6493).
