Ability For User To Specify Custom Sort Order
Hello Team,
I was thinking is it possible for a user to set the sort order as per his preference.
Sometimes, I may need to sort by Date and Last Updated, other times I may need to sort by Date and Withdrawal Amount or Sort by Date and ID.
So, is there a way I can custom choose what I sort by?
Alex.

Re: Ability For User To Specify Custom Sort Order
Do you know maybe how to sort by Date/Number? For me it is only possible to sort by Number/Date which is quite useless. I'm using version 1.8

Re: Ability For User To Specify Custom Sort Order
Hi,
I would like this feature as well. Every single colum can be sorted in any way as I want with the exception od "Date". Every time that I add "Date" as a sorting column, it automatically set the second column as "Id"
For example, my goal is to sort it the columns "Date" and than "Number"
Cheers,
Ricardo Eder

When I click on the ID column, it is sorted by ID and date.
If I click on Date, it sorts by date and ID.
What is your problem

Re: Ability For User To Specify Custom Sort Order
Hi Renato,
I want to sort by Date and anything else that is not "ID", for example, "Date" and "Number" (like I wrote in my first post) or "Date" and "Status".
cheers,
Ricardo Eder

Re: Ability For User To Specify Custom Sort Order
Hi,
Is there any news regarding my question?
Also, the ordering does not work properly since I have it ordered by Date and ID which means that for the 9th of January, the red highlighted transaction should be the last one since it has a greater ID than the others.
Cheers,
Ricardo Eder

Re: Ability For User To Specify Custom Sort Order
As I have already written, you can sort by two different columns, for example Category / Notes or Payee / Category or Category / Payee .......
If that is not enough for you, then I would make a request at https://github.com/moneymanagerex/money ... issues/new?

Re: Ability For User To Specify Custom Sort Order
Hi Renato,
So you are basically saying two things regarding my last posts.
1) It is not posible to search by two columns when one of them is Date and the second one is NOT id, correct? Is there any reason for this limitation?
2) what about the bug that I just posted? the columns should be ordered by Date and Id but they are not.
Cheers,
Ricardo Eder

Hallo Ricardo

Re: Ability For User To Specify Custom Sort Order
I have no idea why you replied to me in German but OK, I used google translate and this is what I got as translation of your answers
On point 1) your assumption is wrong, just click on the payee and then on the date.
On point 2) your screenshot is illegible
I don't know if you are replying to this without testing it or maybe you have a different version than me (and in your version, it works - I have 1.8.1). I also don't know why you keep changing the name of the column that I want to order by (I never mentioned "Payee").
Anyway, if I do exactly what you wrote, I get this
1) Initially, I have it ordered by "Date" and "Id"
2) I click in Payee and the ordering changes to "Payee" and "Date"
3) If I click again in "Date", is changes back to "Date" and "ID"
My goal, as I said in my first post, is to have it ordered by "Date" as the first criteria and "Number" (or ANY other column, it does not matter, it could be even "Payee")
I cannot see ANY way of having transactions order FIRST BY "Date" and after by ANY other column which is NOT "ID"
Regarding point 2, I don't know what else I can do, I added as attachment and in my computer it is legible.
I didn't know that you are not a developer of MMEX and I am sorry that I misinterpreted your role here. As you recommended, I created two tickets in github

@ricardoeder Absolutely agree.
I have not seen such a smart, elegant and professionally detailed response as yours. Thank you very much and keep this way! Happy to be a MMEX user as you. Happy new year 2025, and looking forward to new versions with such care in details as you requested.
