Sync with Dropbox between Android and Windows Desktop
Can anyone explain why a new database, created in Windows and saved with Dropbox, seems to be changed or corrupted when opening in Android. I have tried so many ways to understand this, but I can't get it fixed. As soon as I add a transaction in Android and save the mmb in Dropbox and then open MMEX in Windows, it does not show the same as my Android. Same problem when I change something in Windows, it won't show up in Android. How come? Can anyone get it synced properly at the moment? What am I doing wrong? I'ved tried Google Drive and One drive, but all the same.

Hi Benvan45
May I ask you to remove the signature immediately, we do not tolerate links to sex sites, otherwise I will delete your account including posts.
By the way, it would be helpful to know with which MMEX versions these problems with the Dropbox occur.

Re: Sync with Dropbox between Android and Windows Desktop
MMEX versions I have tried today: Windows 1.80 x64 and Android the latest: 2024.08.01.1036.
Really hope there is a simple solution, as I really don't understand at all.

I can't figure out how to get Nextcloud working........it's too difficult for me, so......hope there's another option? Why not Dropbox or Google Drive and One Drive, as it is suggested many times?

Re: signature, I suspect your password has been hacked, please change it.
I have recently noticed several accounts that have been hacked and misused for sex and games links.
A good checker is https://leakchecker.uni-bonn.de/en/index

Re: Sync with Dropbox between Android and Windows Desktop
I have added categories in Android and they don't appear in Windows, but when I want to add the same category in Windows, it's not possible, as it says that the category already exists. It's terrible.....and I just don't understand when a database is just synced in Dropbox and is completely different in either Android or Windows. Am I the only one with this?

Re: Sync with Dropbox between Android and Windows Desktop
Also just tried Pcloud, is a free cloud service, but just the same results. I am sure it's not the cloud programs causing this. There must be something really wrong with Money Manager itself, somewhere. I just love the program, as it feels great, it looks great, but if I can't get it synced, I'll stop completely. I am using Money Pro for quite some time now and works just great. It only costs a few Euro's!!!!! https://money.pro/windows/ But, I have been struggling with Money Manager Ex, because I like the program, but if the syncing won't work, it's no use for me. Hope someone, who does get it to sync, will let me know how!

Re: Sync with Dropbox between Android and Windows Desktop
Man Oh man......another list of nothing but trouble......so, this is it for me. It does not work and I stop the whole party! Good luck to you all and thanks for the help, which didn't resolve the problem. It's about time to make it public, that syncing is NOT working and as long it can't be solved, remove it from the program options!

Re: Sync with Dropbox between Android and Windows Desktop
I understand your frustration, but it would probably help everyone more if you helped constructively to solve the problem.
You are using MMEX, a freeware programme developed and maintained by volunteers and made available to you free of charge.
The use of MMEX is voluntary.
There will always be functions that do not work or do not yet work as desired, especially with recently released features.
MMEX Android has not been maintained for a long time and has recently been adapted to the desktop version. The fact that not everything is working as it should is partly due to the unwillingness of users to formulate / report their problems correctly. The large number of different Android versions as well as cloud solutions does not make it easy for a developer to create error-free versions for all possible variants.
It's the same here as in all forums, there are demands, grumbles and complaints, but only in very few cases do people write about how great MMEX is and thank the developers for their free work.
Sorry, I just had to get that off my chest.

Re: Sync with Dropbox between Android and Windows Desktop
Today I have finally been abled to sync between my Android phone and the Desktop on Windows 11 with the use of Sync.com. https://www.sync.com/ So far, it's working without any problems. After adding a transaction on Android, it synced within seconds to the desktop and opening the desktop app showed exactly the same database as the android! I can't believe it yet, after struggling with this for years. I've tried therm all, but no way it worked. The one thing I never got working is Syncthing, because I really couldn't figure out how to get it installed and working. I've asked so many times if anyone could explain this, but never had any reaction. I also asked many times how anybody is synchronising properly and I also never got a reaction. So, hope this Sync.com will keep on doing the trick, but looks good so far!!!!!

wow, this is great. @Benvan45
I wonder whether you can write something on setting up MMEX+Sync for the newbies.

Re: Sync with Dropbox between Android and Windows Desktop
Setting up Sync is as simple as it can be, just download the install on Windows and the app on Android. Upload the mmb to the Sync folder either on Android or Windows and that's it. It'll sync automatically. The free account is 5 GB! I'm considering moving my whole Dropbox to Sync and stop using Dropbox completely. But I'll wait for a week or so, just to be sure everything remains this smooth.

Re: Sync with Dropbox between Android and Windows Desktop
Just forget the whole story again, thought it was working great, but now it starts all over again. I really don't understand at all. It seemed great but now I get conflicted copies again and again, so.....just unbelievable this. Is Syncthing working? Is there any manual how to install and use this?

Re: Sync with Dropbox between Android and Windows Desktop
Now I have done something very easy for me instead of using the sync option, which does not work for me and I still wonder if there's somebody who's happy with the sync function. Now I export the database on my android phone to Dropbox and then I open the db with the Windows app and everything is just great. It takes very little effort to get this done. Why the db is buggered when using the sync option? I just wonder if anybody has an answer. But now I'm happy with the export option!

Re: Sync with Dropbox between Android and Windows Desktop
Maybe you could try phone storage + sync tool (e.g. syncthing) instead of public cloud provider

hi @Benvan45 ,
here you go a regular case of MMEX + Google Drive Synchronisation problems with Google Drive
btw, are you willing to join our internal testing for MMEX on Google Play?

I have stated before, that I don't understand how to install syncthing, I find this very complicated. I've also asked many times......Who has no problems with synchronisation with Dropbox or Google Drive?guanlisheng wrote: ↑Sun Oct 27, 2024 4:22 am Maybe you could try phone storage + sync tool (e.g. syncthing) instead of public cloud provider
