Re: Cloud db... But where is?
Hi,
It depends on your cloud provider.
I have a nextcoud cloud. On my Android, it is stored in Android/media/com.nextcloud.client

Using your phone's storage is fine as well, something like Downloads or Document folders, you can explore with the Files app on your phone.
for cloud provider, maybe you can follow https://moneymanagerex.org/blog/mmex-cl ... nextcloud/

Re: Cloud db... But where is?
If you have a google account, you have a cloud provider.
On my android, i use IodeOS. An ungooglised mobile.
I use Davx5 apk for adding nextcloud account.

Re: Cloud db... But where is?
Sure, here is the translation of your text into English:
---
I'm not sure I understood.... I have an Android phone and obviously a Google account. In the early days of MMEx, I put the db on Google Drive, but I noticed many problems as it created errors. I also tried with OneDrive, but here it created many duplicate files with a number at the end, and after a while, it was difficult to understand which was the latest version.
Currently, the path is /storage/emulated/0/android/data/come.money.manager.ex/files/databases/money_manager.mmb which I think is a local file, while the remote file is something like: content://com.android.externalstorage.document/document/primary%3amoneymanagerex%2fmonet_manager.mmb which I don't understand if it is local or cloud and exactly where it is.
Is there a better way to manage the db that you can suggest to me? With which steps?
Thank you

Re: Cloud db... But where is?
it's not a requirement
When you open your mmex file (in your google storage : content://com.android.externalstorage.document/document/primary%3amoneymanagerex%2fmonet_manager.mmb) the first time , MMEX copy your .mmb file in the local storage (/storage/emulated/0/android/data/come.money.manager.ex/files/databases/money_manager.mmb).marcottt wrote: ↑Wed Jan 29, 2025 8:25 am Currently, the path is /storage/emulated/0/android/data/come.money.manager.ex/files/databases/money_manager.mmb which I think is a local file, while the remote file is something like: content://com.android.externalstorage.document/document/primary%3amoneymanagerex%2fmonet_manager.mmb which I don't understand if it is local or cloud and exactly where it is.
Each time you run MMEX, there is a synchronization between google storage and local storage.

Re: Cloud db... But where is?
You gave us this directory. But I hadn't quite read your comment above: “something like that”.
May I suggest you do a search on the net (google search?), for setting up a google account on a smartphone?
This is completely off the topic of this forum.
Try searching android/media

Re: Cloud db... But where is?
I thought that was clear.
It's like on a desktop PC.
When you set up your account (google, nextcloud...), the system has to create (you can change the location) a physical directory on your PC. You then drop your files/ folders into this physical folder and the synchronization system will take care of sending the files/folders to the cloud.
This procedure is the same for Android. So you need to find out where the google folder has been created on your phone.

Re: Cloud db... But where is?
If i understand, what you say is to put db on Google drive or onedrive and mmex will recognize it as a cloud? It a bit strange and not standard. Usually app use db on local (real local) and sync with cloud and not viceversa.
Anyway i already do that, was the first way i used mmex but was bad... In onedrive i got a lot of copy of db without reason... In Google drive got many errors.
If this is the way to use mmex in cloud i think i will stai local and sometimes export on gdrive.
I aspected something different, like a "cloud" setup and where to put a copy or backup, like more or less any other app with db sync to cloud.

Re: Cloud db... But where is?
MMEX use sqlite database.
It's not like Mysql or MariaDB: there's no database engine installed on the PC (and even less on an Android).

Re: Cloud db... But where is?
Yes, that's just the way it is, solutions for distributed databases can be found in the commercial sector and they are not free. Nevertheless, the developers at MMEX try to offer you a usable solution via the free clouds. Unfortunately, this is not so easy, because it takes a lot of knowledge and many hours for development and testing.
Looking back, the MMEX team, especially @guanlisheng, has done a lot in the last year, because he has updated the old Android version and created a new iOS version. The fact that not everything works smoothly should be understood by the complex environments.
I would very much welcome it if the users would actively participate in the troubleshooting so that these problems can be solved. Remember, MMEX is free and offers a lot. The list of "demands" on this free software is long and shows how popular MMEX is.

Re: Cloud db... But where is?
Hello, I hope there hasn't been any misunderstanding. I am absolutely and fully grateful to open developers in general, and of course to the MMEX developers in particular. I have been using it for a month and have decided to use it fully, so I am trying to understand the functions as best as I can, and this cloud management issue was not at all clear to me. That's all.
