Trouble downloading v1.3.5

Post by RWCurry »

I run v1.3.4 of MMEX. Every time I launch the app, I get a message telling me v1.3.5 is available. I download this and launch it. The next time I open MMEX, Help>About tells me I am running 1.3.5 and the Home Page looks a bit different to 1.3.4. However, when I shutdown and later launch the app again, V1.3.5 seems to have disappeared. I just get v1.3.4, with the message telling me v1.3.5 is available. Can you explain why this is and how I overcome the problem?

Check whether your download is the portable version instead of the installable version.

If you are used to opening Money Manager Ex from the start menu on Windows then you want the installable version. Go to https://www.moneymanagerex.org/download and choose "Windows - 64BIT" (assuming your computer is 64 bit).

Thank you. The link you provided took me to a different site compared to the one the link in the message took me to. That only gave me access to the portable version. My problem is now solved.

I am now having the same problem installing 1.5. I have downloaded the file mmex-1.5.0-win64.exe. When I run it, I receive an error messages. I have attached screenshot. My version continues as 1.3.6. All unchanged apart from the fact that my attempt to upload seems to have removed the home page. I get a message saying the path to this cannot be found. Can you help? Many thanks. Richard curry

I would suggest closing the open MMEX before an installation so that the new version can be installed.

That seems to have resolved the problem. It is a bit misleading when the scree telling you about a new version comes up when you are trying to launch MoneyManager, but nothing tells you to shut it down again to download and install the new version. Anyway, thank you for your help - much appreciated. Richard Curry

Thank you very much for the feedback.
by the way: this was not a problem from downloading, but from installation.

I am now trying to install version 1.3.10. MMEX is closed while I do this. However I keep getting the same error message shown in my screen shot on April 16 2021 regarding version 1.3.5. The installation seemed to have started until the error message appeared. I still seem to able to use version 1.3.9 but I have lost my Homepage. I am using the win64.exe version of the 1.3.10 file. Can you help? Thank you.

I suggest using the portable version of MMEX.

Thank you for the suggestion. I have followed this and downloaded the portable version and then tried to install it. When I now try to open MMEX I get a series of error messages which lead to the attached debug report. I chose the option to send the report. However, I cannot open MMEX at all now

Instruction:
MMEX download
Open .zip file
unzip
in the unzipped folder in the res directory create a shortcut (send to) on the desktop using the right mouse button.
Start MMEX (shortcut).
open the existing .....mmb database or create a new one

Thank you for this. I assumed the file I need is mmex.exe, which is in the bin directory. The res directory has the mmex.ico file. I created a shortcut to mmex.exe as you suggested and all works well. I am not sure why running mmex.exe directly from its location in the bin directory led to problems, but launching it from a shortcut (which targets the file in the bin directory) does not. Anyway, as I say, thank you for your help

I continue to have problems downloading new versions of MoneyMananger. I am running version 1.5.11-Beta 1 16 bit, which is the last version I have been able to download. With every new version since then, including 1.5.17 which came out today, I download, install and when I check, I look to have the new version. However, when I shut down and then restart MoneyManager, I am back to version 1.5.11. Can anyone tell me why I have this ongoing problem. My laptop runs Windows 11, 64 bit. It doesn't seem to make any difference whether I download the portable version of the software, or otherwise. Thank you for your help

I would download Everything https://www.voidtools.com/ and look for mmex.exe and mmex.lnk.
Probably there are several versions of these files
Cleaning / deleting these directories / Files and reinstalling probably solves the problem.

Thank you for this. All seems to be ok now. I guess the moral of this is that, when I download a new version, I should remove the downloads of previous versions.

Having had problems gettingv1.3.5 to download some time ago, I am now having problems getting v1.6.3 to install. Every time I try, I get a message saying there is a problem with a specific file. Then another, then another ................. . In the end all I seem to be able to do is to cancel the install and then reinstall v1.6.1. I am trying to work with mmex 1.6.3-win64. This is the corresponding file to those used for installing earlier versions. Can anyone help?

It would be very helpful if you could tell us (screenshot) what the error messages are.
Have you deleted the old MMEX version ??.
Do you have administrator rights in Windows ??
what version of Windows are you using ??

1. Screenshot attached. This refers to a particular file but, if I press Ignore, the message comes back with another file name, then another and so on
2. The installation procedure seems to delete the previous version of MMEX
3. I do have administrator rights
4. I use Windows 10

I appreciate your help

such problems occur when the files to be replaced are opened (blocked) elsewhere.

Make sure that MMEX is finished.
download the version here: https://moneymanagerex.org/docs/downloads/latest/
click with the right mouse button on this .exe file
and run it with run as administrator

Here you can find information about it: https://windowsreport.com/error-opening ... r-writing/
