I notice my categories have entries with sub entries of "Paypal express checkout payment sent" or "Mobile express checkout payment sent" etc.
I have not manually entered this information so am interested how it got there.

Only if some transactions has been imported then new categories may be added.

I had had the same issue and found solution to sort it out. You have to allow install apps from everywhere and disable gatekeeper while installing program. Please follow a link below:
