Problem installing 1.3.1 on Mac

Help!
I've been happily using Money Manager EX for a few years and managed to migrate from Windows to my Mac.
Last time I used it I got a prompt to upgrade to 1.3.1 for Mac.
I've not been able to install this. I download, move the app to the Applications folder but when I open it I keep getting an error message:
"mmex.app" is damaged and can't be opened. You should remove it to the Trash
I've tried about 5 times now and keep getting the same message.
What's going on? Desperately keen to get back up and running!!!!!
