Hi there,
Thanks in advance for your help here.
I did search in forum for "Saving Report" & "Save Report" & "How to Save a Custom Report" but with no success...
I am a new use of MMEX.
I have created a "Where Money Goes" report with a custom start and end date.
I want to save the customised report in MMEX and return to it later for further insights. However, whenever I navigate away from the report (to try and find a method to save it) the date range reverts to the default and my report needs to be recreated again with the same custom dates.
Is there a menu option to "Save As" a custom report? GenAI tools (Gemini) say there is but when I look at my system i cannot find it.
Google Gemini says:
QUOTE
Save Your Customized Report
"Where the Money Goes" Report: Make sure you have your customized "Where the Money Goes" report open with your desired date range and any other modifications you've made.
Report Menu: Click on the "Report" menu at the top of the MoneyManager Ex window.
"Save As" Option: Select "Save As."
Choose a Name and Location: Give your report a descriptive name (e.g., "Custom Spending 10th-9th") and choose where you want to save it. MoneyManager Ex will save it with a .mmreport extension.
2. Access Your Saved Report
Reports Menu: Go to the "Reports" menu again.
"Open Report" Option: Select "Open Report."
Locate and Open: Find the .mmreport file you saved and open it.
UNQUOTE
- I have no Report Menu with a Save As option...

Re: How to Save a Custom Report in MMEX
Hello,
If you have created a report with the report manager, you must save each tab (sql, lua, template, description) in 4 separate files as follows:
- description.txt
- luacontent.lua
- sqlcontent.sql
- template.htt
then compress these 4 files into a zip file.
or more simply, use the Export button !!

Re: How to Save a Custom Report in MMEX
Thanks for your reply...
No I didn't create the report that way.
I merely looked that the menu on the left hand pane and selected:
Dashboard >> Reports >> Categories >> Where the Money Goes
Then Changed "Period" to Custom and then edited the start / end date fields.
An Expenses Pie Chart then appears and it is this chart and data that I wish to Save...
Hope this helps...

Presumably you have found an old description, could you tell us the source.
If you select the print icon, you can save the data in a .PDF.
Alternatively, you can also save it with Printscreen (Greenshot).

Re: How to Save a Custom Report in MMEX
Thanks Renato.
The source was from gemini.google.com (an AI source). It is normally very accurate e.g. it can generate basic code....
The prompt I entered was "I have created a customised "Where the Money Goes" report from MoneyManager Ex. How can I save this report so I don't have to keep on re entering the custom dates?"
It produced the "answer" that I shared earlier. It would appear that this was "AI fiction" or that it found an old article on Google Search that said the above for another program...
I have taken your advise and printed to PDF.
Thank you.

Re: How to Save a Custom Report in MMEX
You are welcome.
I note that it is not possible to determine the origin of the answers from gemini.google.com. I have tried to verify this answer, but have not succeeded. It seems that an answer has been put together from various sources, but it is wrong.
If I enter the same question in MS Copilot, I get a different answer, but with a source. But this answer is also worthless.
In my view, AI is still in its infancy and is a nice toy.

Response:
That's great to hear! To save your customized report in MoneyManager Ex (MMEX) so you don't have to re-enter the custom dates each time, you can follow these steps:
Create and run your custom report with the desired date range.
Save the report settings: Go to the report settings and save the date range or any other custom parameters you've set1.
Export the report: You can export the report to a file format like CSV or PDF. This way, you can easily load it later without re-entering the details1.
Save the file: Store the exported file in a safe location on your computer.
Would you like more detailed instructions on any of these steps?
