We use MMEX for the accounts for our small charity. To help manage our finances and simplify reporting, we use nested categories. For example:
01R : Parent category
01RA : Child category
01RAA : Item category 1
01RAB : Item category 2
Our transactions are coded to the Item category level (which is sometimes level 2 and sometimes level 3 deep).
When I enter a transaction and assign a category, I start typing the code - eg. 01R - and MMEX shows the parent category with that code. But if I type 01RAB it cannot find it (because it only searches parent categories).
It would be very very helpful if the category box used when adding a transaction could perform a universal search so we could use the code for a level 3 code (01RAB) and MMEX then show that category.
Is that something that could be added in a future release please?

Re: Universal search for categories
it would be nice if you typed "cable" in the category field and "Bills:Cable TV" showed up..

Re: Universal search for categories
You can do that! Just press Enter before typing what you want to search for, and a search box will appear where you can easily find and select "Bills:Cable TV" or any other category. This applies to the PC version.
