Post by 1005895337 »

Is there a possibility to import double entry transactions of this sort:

"Date","Payee","Memo","Amount","DebitAmount","DebitAccount","CreditAccount"

Can it create account during the import process?

please help! I want to switch from my old app!

Of course I know what double-entry bookkeeping is.
MMEX is not double-entry bookkeeping.
I cannot answer your question as to whether you can import data from double-entry bookkeeping.
By the way: this is a user forum, maybe there is a user who has solved this problem.

@1005895337

What is your old app ?
How did you export from your old software? Which format?
If you're looking for double-entry accounting software, as @Renato points out, mmex is not suitable.
Are you looking for professional software?

Double entry transactions? I have not found that on the text on the Help. https://moneymanagerex.org/moneymanager ... index.html

And do not through questions without doing your work. That is not fair; we would help you if you just search and see that accounts cannot be created on an import process...

How would you feel if I just copy-and-paste an AI-Generated response to your question? So, here you are...

Based on the available information, here are the answers to your questions about Money Manager Ex (MMEX):

(a) MMEX does not directly support importing double-entry transactions in the format you specified. The software primarily uses a single-entry system for most account types, with transactions recorded as either withdrawals, deposits, or transfers13. While MMEX can import transactions from specific QIF formats, it doesn't have built-in support for the CSV format with double-entry information you described .

(b) MMEX does not automatically create accounts during the import process. You need to set up accounts manually before importing transactions . The software requires you to create accounts first, specifying details such as the account name, type, and initial balance, before you can start adding or importing transactions .

If you're looking to migrate from another financial software to MMEX, you may need to adjust your data format or consider alternative methods for transferring your financial information .
