MMEX 1.5.16 not accepting new entries, 1.64 fails with debug/patch file requested

Suddenly yesterday, my MMEX version 1.5.16 for Windows-32 has stopped accepting new transactions. I try to enter a bank deposit and submit it and nothing is updated.
I’m using Win 7 Professional. I’m using an EMB encrypted database file and never had this problem before.
So I installed version 1.64 but when I try to open the old EMB database I get the error: “MMEX Ugrade: Have MMEX support provided you with a debug/patch file? I click “NO” and I just get the Open Database screen again.
I don’t know what to do. Can anyone help?
