Setting transaction filter default

Post by Baldrick »

Hi there

One thing I find annoying in the mobile app is that the transaction filter is always set to show all types. I have to change that every time to just show those marked 'None'...which is all I want to see in the mobile app.

Is there anyway to add setting defaults for the filter so that whenever the transaction view is used the filter applies the default set?

A worry hy improvement if this is not already possible.

Cheers, Baldrick

just wonder how mmex solved your pain points and also some improvement areas.

It would be great if you could write detailed article like https://moneymanagerex.org/blog/assets- ... d-example/

Hi Lisheng

Thanks for the clarification. I see what you are getting at based on the detailed article. However, I do not really use money management apps for anything too deep such as control of major assets & liabilities. My use is mainly the tracking of day-to-day income & outgoings, such as credit cards, bank current & saving accounts, etc. In terms of assets...perhaps something like small scale share holdings, etc. So nothing earth shattering...and MMEX works really well in those areas based on my own experiences.

The 'heavy' side of assets & liabilities is really a major accounting topic, and probably warrants a specific app to cover it. But for my part, given the complexities and the amount of work required I would not try to track assets such as land and/or real estate property, etc. given that the valuation has a significant subjective element (says he who is in the process of moving house... ).

For me the major pain point was the apparent inability to connect the mobile app with the desktop databases due to the difference in encryption methods between them. With that now rectified in the 1.8.1 beta, that has now disappeared.

I suppose that a nice feature would be the ability to reconcile accounts in MMEX against bank statement information downloaded from the relevant financial institutions. However, I appreciate that information available to download is not in a standardised format, even between banks in the same country...and therefore coming up with something viable would be extremely difficult and time consuming.

The only way I can see of doing this is to provide a mapping interface, i.e., the ability for the use to map incoming bank data to MMEX on a field by field basis...much like the import feature that I used to import the data I had, in my previous money management app, into MMEX. That worked really well and perhaps a clone of that functionality, focusing on the monthly importation of bank statement data would be a feature that other users of MMEX might like to see? Import the bank data, define the period to compare it to re. the relevant MMEX account & then automatically reconcile with a report being produced re. unmatched items on both sides, which the user could then focus on to adjust/correct manually.

I will give your original request some thought and should I come up with anything that may be of use I will let you know.

All the best, Baldrick
