[SOLVED] v1.8.1 and emb database issue

Having upgraded to v1.8.1 I have a problem opening my 'emb' database.
Another user who had this issue mentioned seeing a solution for this but I have not managed to find what this is. Can someone please elaborate or point me in the right direction?
