Data is gone, database sync errors should be clearly communicated

I recently decided to return to using the app on Android again.
Upon launching it, I saw some kind of message briefly pop up at the bottom of the screen. As a test, I closed the app and reopened it — the previously entered transactions were still visible, so I assumed everything was working fine.
Later, I wanted to check those transactions using the Windows version of the program, but the transactions I had entered on the phone were not there. I turned on my phone again and opened the app — the transactions were still visible. Then I used the “Open Database” option and suddenly those transactions were gone!
1. So where exactly is the database stored on the phone, if it wasn’t syncing with Google Drive? How can I recover the data I previously entered on my phone? I had a similar issue earlier with OneDrive.
2. It would be great to have a feature that clearly notifies the user when the database is not syncing with the cloud — maybe a red warning message with a large font or something similar?
