I’d like to share my successful experience using special icons and emojis in Money Manager Ex. There are plenty of emojis you can add to account names, categories, and subcategories to make your financial overview more visual and intuitive.

Some useful symbols include:
, , , , , , , , , , , and many more.
If you need specific icons, ChatGPT can help you find the perfect ones.

For example, I have a category called Household bills with subcategories like Electricity, Phone, and Water:

Household bills
   Electricity
   Phone
   Water

Or a bank account with $10,000 locked until 10/10/2026 can be displayed as:
US Bank 10K 10/10/2026

This looks fantastic in Money Manager Ex and makes everything easy to understand at a glance. Just keep in mind that all icons will appear in black and white within the app.

I always use the portable version, which is currently at 1.9.0. It’s very simple to use — just select and copy any emoji from above, then paste it before or after a category name. That’s all there is to it.

By the way, it’s not possible to do this with pictures or icons, but emojis can be pasted easily without any issues.

As I mentioned earlier, if you need a different image, just ask ChatGPT. However, don’t ask for a picture or icon — instead, ask for a symbol or emoji.

I use MMEX on a LinuxMint. No need chatGPT. There is too https://emojipedia.org/
Right clic in a category field, and select "Insert emoticon"
