Database Running Slowly

I have been using the Windows Desktop version of MMEX for a few years now and the database is 2.7 Mb in size which appears quite small compared to other accounting software packages I have used.
The issue I have now encountered is that things are running a LOT more slowly than when I first started using MMEX (Eg when I enter a withdrawal transaction and try to split an amount into different categories it will take approx. 45 seconds for the dialogue box to open with multiple rows)
My database has approx. 100 accounts (across 7 currencies) and I must have entered a few thousand transactions by now.
I am running the latest version of MMEX (1.9.0 64 bit) on a Dell XPS 17 (9710) with 32 Gb of Ram which is running Windows 11 so I don't think it should be a case of my laptop not being able to handle things.
Are there any particular settings I should toggle to optimise performance and/or is it simply a case of this is to be expected with a database of this size and complexity?
