I use the Windows and Android versions of the program.  When I use the Android version it saves the data base in two locations in Dropbox.  It saves it under APPS and MoneyManagerEx Mobile.  I deleted the files in Apps and then renamed the files in MoneyManagerEx Mobile and restarted everything.  The first time I used the Android version it saved the new file twice again - once in each folder.  Does anyone have any idea what is going on?  I really like this program but this is causing problems recalling the wrong data file.

That is a really strange behaviour. Did you try reinstalling the app? This should remove your Dropbox settings file and create a new one. Then perform the Dropbox linking again to store the destination directory. Hopefully this fixes the issue. I have not seen such behaviour reported before.
