Download of old version 2.15.8(build 693) Aug 2015 to tablet

I purchased a new tablet today running on android version 7. However moneymanagerex 2.15.8 is being downloaded from play store. I have tried to download from the actual device and also from my desktop to the tablet. My friend also tried on his device and the old version downloaded there as well.
However when I download to my smartphone, I get the latest 2018 version.
Can you advise please.

Same issue when installing on a Samsung Chromebook Pro running in Android mode.

To answer my own question...
I got around the issue by installing from the "get it on fdroid" link at
http://android.moneymanagerex.org

Have you been able to resolve this issue? I have a new Acer Spin 11 Chromebook and all I can download from Google Play store is the old 2015 version. Any suggestions for a work-around would be appreciated.
