Transaction Filter fails to return any data

Please can you tell me where I am going wrong.
No matter what I do i cannot get the transaction filter to return any data. I enter the required details in the fields and would expect to be able to get filtered returns, for example.
I am trying to isolate the details of any income I have earned. I put the dates etc in and then use the category "income" and then tick deposits. However all I get is an empty return.
Is there an issue with the software or am i going wrong.
Given I am not genius with computers you may have to spell out in simple terms what I'm doing wrong.
Any help is greatly received.
