Account view overlays navigation view

Normally, the navigation view is in a narrow column on the left, but recently it has taken to lying under the account view.  Any ideas how I can get them back to a side-by-side relationship, so I can see both views at once?  This is happening both with 1.2.6 and with the older 1.2.3.
