v1.9 feedbacks

Post by Eddietheone »

Hi all I do not like this latest version. I notice that some of my future purchase payments are no longer listed at the bottom of the list now. They are still greyed out but at random places in the list. The dates are clearly entered for March April etc no typos. So overall not a very happy bunny now. Not sure I can adapt to this update but I will give it a couple of weeks. Edward

I think I am seeing the same thing as Eddietheone, but it's very subtle. The current solution is to sort by the new SN (Sequential Number) field, and that seems to put things into the correct order.

Before this latest update, when I entered two transactions to the same account (for example, put money into an account to fund a bill, and then actually pay the bill), they would be entered in the order they were created. This would end up with the correct balance as the last entry. With v1.9, this does not happen (unless I sort them by SN). This is annoying and should be fixed.

Re: v1.9 feedbacks - SORTING BUG

Post by Daddy Peacebucks »

A follow up for the problem I referred in my previous post. I just entered 3 transactions by using the the "Duplicate Transaction" option (all 3 were deposits). THEN I entered a new transaction (this was a transfer). The result looked like this (note that even though this account is sorted by date, the items are not sorted in the order that they were entered):

Then I manually sort the items by Sequential Number, which put them in the correct order.
And even if I then went and re-sort them by date, they STAY in the same order.
This lower image is what they should have looked like from the beginning.

Unless I'm misunderstanding something, this looks like a bug to me (and it never existed prior to v1.9).

hi @Daddy Peacebucks ,

The ID column after SN starts with the timestamp when you created the transaction. The screenshots show they are matched. Can you additionally show the Last Updated column to verify it?

When I catch it happening again, I will try (after posting my screenshots yesterday, I made an additional edit to SN #2142, so the "Last Updated" field has changed and therefore probably not helpful for troubleshooting). Until then, please trust my previous statement as to the order (and method) in which the four entries were created and see if you can replicate it yourself. As I mentioned in my original post in this thread, this has been happening ever since I updated to v1.9, but a lot of times I don't notice it immediately and/or I've already gotten into the habit of resorting it by SN when I do see it.

I probably would have posted the Last Updated column in my previous post, but I had that column over to the far right so a simple copy and paste of the relevant rows would have included account info which I didn't want to share (without a bunch of editing). I've since moved the LU column to the immediate right of the Date column, so next time it should be easier to include.

BTW, your comment about the SN & ID columns: "The screenshots show they are matched." confirms my point: SN # 2142 was created AFTER #s 2139-2141 (which is also shown by the ID column), yet it is displayed out of sequence (by both the SN # and the ID #) until I do a re-sort.

yup, i probably get the issue.

In theory, MMEX should additionally sort by ID or SN after the main sorted column.

1) My accounts were sorted by Date in the 1st screenshot (and by SN in the 2nd one). And after manually re-sorting by SN, re-sorting by Date didn't revert the SN sort to an incorrect order (all this was stated in my post from 3/27 at 8:08 PM GMT).

2) Use 'Time' in transaction recording/reporting is unchecked (just like your screenshot).

Currently it's sorted by Date then SN. However, I'm not 100% certain it was that way in the 1st screenshot (I never noticed the "Sort Order" info at the top of the screen until a few minutes ago). I just know that I normally have things sorted by Date, so that the Balance field is correct. If this happens again, I will pay attention to the Sort Order info at the top and let you know if it's any different.

I just re-produced it sorted by date & payee. I guess you were such case as well and it is due to two sorted columns itself instead.

Do you need me to document additional occurrences? Or can I wait until you release an update that will (hopefully) fix this?

Thanks for documenting this.
To be clear, there is no fix, as the sequence is correct for the two sorted columns

So how do I get it to sort only by the Date field (which is how it behaved prior to v1.9)?

selected a proper secondary sorted by column would help. This is an old feature instead of v1.9,

The two-column sorting has been there since v1.6.0 based on https://github.com/moneymanagerex/money ... tag/v1.6.0

Ahh okay, I thought the two-level sorting came along with the SN and ID fields.

What would be a "proper" 2nd level sort? Date followed by Last Updated?

EDIT: Actually, I guess Date followed by ID would work better.

Bingo, Date followed by ID is equal to SN.

Btw, are you willing to write up an article or blog to introduce and summarize your MMEX experience?
