Post by marcottt »

Hi all,

from some days ago, every time i open MMex on my samsung i got error "remote file is unavailable" with suggestion to export db; i did not remeber to have done some action into dbp settings or similar in these days.

App Version: 5.3.4 (1086)
Model: SM-G990B
Manufacturer: samsung
Release: 15
Api:35
LocalDB Extension: .mmb
RemoteDB: com.google.android.apps.docs.storage

attached image with DB setup, it happen in wifi and in 5g mode, each time.

Someone can tell me how to repair this?

thanks all

This error occurs when app is no able to access to remote db. Unforunately we don't understand why. This seem to be an issue depend to API version and SAF compatibiloity. For example on my Motorola Android 12 with onedrive occurs every some time, while on samsung android 14 it work without any issue.

This popup was introduce in https://github.com/moneymanagerex/andro ... /pull/2554

prior of this when remote file was not accessibile the app simply ignore the error and this cause remote file note updated with latest change, and many user claim data loose.

The trigger of screen is by isRemoteFileAccessible() in syncManager, where the app simply try to read remote file, if failed the popup will be shown.

Some question to better understand your situation:
* Did you use also PC version?
* if yes: SO and App Version. I notice that the db name is the default proposted by app (your_eport_db.mmb). Can you try to rename it on gDrive and reopen from gDrive?
* Are your file on gdrive marked to be "offline"?

I suggest to take a look to this document: [Start Companion]https://android.moneymanagerex.org/quic ... companion/[/url] and to the new setting in 5.4 under [Merge Database]https://android.moneymanagerex.org/quic ... -database-[/url]

[SOLVED] Re: Error: Remote file is unavailable

now i exported again file, reset app, reinstalled all and seem ok.

I love MMeX but i must say a thing.... the db management is terrible... why i cannot decide to have local file "in local" and why i cannot select the remote file location?? so, like in your guide suggestio, we must put the "local" file in remote and the remote file.... boh ??? and then sometimes export it in another location.

I repeat... i love MMeX but this section is uncomprensible for me.... I want to create a LOCAL db on my device and a REMOTE db where i want on remote site... Did not seem to be so difficult.

Anyway now after exporti, cleare, imported etc etc seem ok, my file is in local, my remote... i did not know how to get it... somewhere on gdrive i think...

is some one read this for the same problem a suggestion: EXPORT FILE WITH .mmb ESTENSION OTHERWISE MMeX DID NOT RECOGNIZE IT AS A DB FILE...

thanks anyway to all.

Marco
