Reconcile against statements

Post by Audra »

I'm new to the MMEX program. I used to use the old Microsoft Money. I have seen some discussion threads related to the topic I'm interested in and it seems this is likely an ongoing issue that I'm not going to get answers to. I see a lot of conversations about sorting, which doesn't make a lot of sense to me.

In my old Money program, I could enter the "previous balance" and the new/ending balance. Then I could check off each entry listed to match against the statement.

In this MMEX program, I can NOT enter or alter the "previous balance". I have no idea why my values are off, because each transaction matches. When I use the "Reconcile" button and check off each transaction, my "previous balance" is wrong, but I see no way to alter it. (Inside the pop up to reconcile, at the bottom, it lists previous balance, cleared balance, statement ending, and difference. My previous balance is wrong and thus my difference is significant).

It must be related to this ongoing balance issue you all have talked about.

I don't believe it's an issue with how I set up the account. But I'm new, so I could be wrong. When I began using the MMEX I made all my checking, savings, and credit card accounts under the category of Bank Accounts. I made the "Initial Balance" of each account equal to what would be the opening/previous balance on the first statement I would receive after creating my MMEX program. I made the opening date slightly before the dates that would be listed on my first statements I would receive for each account.

Is there a way to adjust the "Previous balance"?
Any other advice?
